Hagglunds BV206 all-terrain tracked vehicles are being overhauled at the Production Plant Barstow, Marine Depot Maintenance Command in Yermo, Calif. for the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center in Bridgeport, Calif. Purchased as excess from the Norwegian Army, ten of these small unit support vehicles are scheduled for overhaul at the PDD. Members of the MCMWTC and the Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command in Twentynine Palms, Calif. were on hand Mar. 4, 2015 to inspect the first one off the line, as well as three others in various stages of overhaul.

Students from Newberry Springs Elementary School visit the rail yard on Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif., March 5. Chad Hildebrandt, rail operations supervisor here, and soldiers from the 171st Movement Control Company, based out of Fort Irwin, led the tour and answered questions. During the tour, children asked questions and received information about the importance of rail operations in the Department of Defense. They also walked through a static display of various military equipment and were able to go inside some of the vehicles.

On Feb. 5, Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif., held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand opening of the newly built School-Age Care Center. The ceremony included the base commanding officer, Col. Michael L. Scalise, assisting children in the ribbon cutting, a tour of the facility given by the children followed by cake. The SAC provides care before and after school to children while their parents are at work.
