May 31. Marines were placed into red and blue teams and competed against one another in several challenges including trivia, basketball, weights, pull-ups, tug-o-war, and more. Field meets are a customary tradition in every Battalion throughout the Marine Corps and have been in existence for at least a century, tracing back to World War I, and possibly even earlier. Marines possess inherent pride and athleticism, coupled with the mental fortitude required for various levels of competition.
