Fredi, the now retired K-9 from Marine Corps Police Department, MCLB Barstow, plays with his cloth monkey held by his former human partner Terri Piekosz, a Chicago native. Piekosz was recently sworn in as a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps after completing OCS in Quantico, Va. She “adopted” Fredi after resigning her position as a police officer Dec. 16, 2011.

A native of Germany, 9-year-old Fredi has worked with the Marine Corps Police Department aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow for four years with his partner Terri Piekosz. Fredi is retired now, adopted by his former partner who is now ready for a career as a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps after attending Officer Candidate School.

During the event, guests were able to dine, enjoy live music, several craft stations, a puppet show, and a photo opportunity with Santa Claus.
