Sgt. Maj. Sergio Martinez accepts the Noncommissioned Officer sword from Base Commanding Officer, Col. Sekou S. Karega, designating him as the new base sergeant major, during a Relief and Appointment cermony held on MCLB Barstow, March 3. Sgt. Maj. Martinez took over the position from Sgt. Maj. Karl D. Simburger who has been reassigned as the sergeant major for the Wounded Warrior Regiment, located in Quantico, Va.
