Assistant Fire Chief Greg Kunkel, Emergency Medical Services supervisor, MCLB Fire Department, slides the rechargeable lithium ion battery pack into a slot on the Lucas 2 automatic chest compression device. The yellow board at the bottom goes under the gurnery or board the patient is strapped to while the green piston goes over the top position on the sternum and delivers 110 compressions a minute, the CPR standard requirement. The $15,000 Lucas 2 can also be plugged into the ambulance power through and invertor port so it does not rely on the device battery.
