Telfinues Preszler, or Papa Tel, a heavy equipment mechanic, displays two photographs which he keeps at his work station, showing many of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, during an interview conducted at Production Plant Barstow, Marine Depot Maintenance Command, at the Yermo Annex aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif. He boasted that he had 10 children, 18 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren which he visits with when he is able to.

Welder Eugene Dunford uses an arc welder to adhere a piece of metal to a Light Armored Vehicle at the Weld Shop located within Production Plant Barstow, Marine Depot Maintenance Command, on the Yermo Annex aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif., March 13. The Weld Shop crew works on hundreds of pieces of Marine Corps equipment every year, ensuring that war fighters in theater have sound and effective equipment out in the field.

Following her recounting of how her family fled Vietnam at the end of the Vietnam War, Master Sgt. Tianna Tien shares a moment of levity with a Veterans Home of California- Barstow resident. Tien and her family had to flee her native Vietnam after the communist North Vietnamese seized power. The regime then began imprisoning and executing those who had opposed them during the war.

Ruth Clemans and Rose Schwartz high five each other as they finish their daily training aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, California, for upcoming marathons, March 7. Schwartz will be racing in the LA Marathon to be held in March and Clemans will be racing in the Duluth Marathon in June, where she plans to qualify for the Boston Marathon 2020.

New heavy equipment ramp and track are ready for use to load and unload heavy tracked equipment on and off of railcars, on the Yermo Annex aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif., March 13. The new tracks will help increase capacity for equipment transport to and from the base, saving the Department of Defense additional funds in transportation costs for all branches of service.
