Ian Bassett, heavy mobile equipment mechanic, inspects the engine of a M88A2 Recovery Vehicle at the production plant aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif. Bassett began working in the transmission component shop, before proving himself working on the Alison transmissions and now works tirelessly on the M88A2 engines.

The "Peggy Sue" gate is once again the main entrance for the Yermo Annex of Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif., as of Sept. 10. An increase in manpower is allowing the Marine Corps Police Department to provide full staffing for the gate. The gate by the Lt. Col. Robert A. Lindsley, USMC Ret., Base Stables is now the Commercial Vehicle Inspection gate and will only be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The laser engraving head moves at a speed almost too fast to follow as it engraves a piece of anodized aluminum at the Graphics Shop at Production Plant Barstow, Marine Depot Maintenance Command, aboard the Yermo Annex of Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif., Sept. 4. The laser engraver is used to make plates that are attached to the vehicles worked on at the plant containing important maintenance and identification information.

The Power Phone book is a lifesaving tool used by emergency dispatch operators at the Consolidated Emergency Communications Center aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow. One of the situations listed in the book that was used by dispatcher Kelley Arps to instruct the mother of a 3-week-old baby that had stopped breathing how to perform Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation on the infant.
