Sandra Murray, founder of Blessings, and an Army wife living on Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, greets and feeds chronically homeless people in the High Desert on the second Sunday of each month, at Lillian Park in Barstow, Calif. Blessings pairs with organizations such as Desert Manna and H.O.P.E. division of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department to offer proactive services to those in need.

Hagglunds BV206 all-terrain tracked vehicles are being overhauled at the Production Plant Barstow, Marine Depot Maintenance Command in Yermo, Calif. for the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center in Bridgeport, Calif. Purchased as excess from the Norwegian Army, ten of these small unit support vehicles are scheduled for overhaul at the PDD. Members of the MCMWTC and the Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command in Twentynine Palms, Calif. were on hand Mar. 4, 2015 to inspect the first one off the line, as well as three others in various stages of overhaul.

During the presentation, Simburger pointed out the many benefits of the base, to include community relations, Marine Corps Mounted Color Guard, economic stimulation and railway operations.

Students from Newberry Springs Elementary School visit the rail yard on Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif., March 5. Chad Hildebrandt, rail operations supervisor here, and soldiers from the 171st Movement Control Company, based out of Fort Irwin, led the tour and answered questions. During the tour, children asked questions and received information about the importance of rail operations in the Department of Defense. They also walked through a static display of various military equipment and were able to go inside some of the vehicles.

The ceremony included the base commanding officer, Col. Michael L. Scalise, assisting children in the ribbon cutting, a tour of the facility given by the children followed by cake. The SAC provides care before and after school to children while their parents are at work.

Wainwright, AK and 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division out of Fort Carson, CO work with contractors from Wolverine/Akima, as well as Chad Hildebrandt, the rail operations supervisor on Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, and his crew to unload Light Medium Tactical Vehicles (LMTVs), STRYKERS and M1A1 Main Battle Tanks (MBTs) on railcars here at MCLB Barstow, Calif., Jan. 8. MCLB Barstow has the largest rail head in the Department of Defense, acting as the logistical hub for the entire southwest region and has become a joint services force at work on the rail systems here in Barstow by offering other services such as technical advice and on-the-job training to a broad range of cooperators such as the U.S. Army.
