Civilian and military personnel, along with their families, joined MCCS Barstow for a 80's themed family night at the James L. Day Conference Center aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, California, January 16. The evening was enriched with live music, a variety of food and beverages, games, and an array of throwback costumes, including pets.

Ralph Arzate, security specialist with Red River Science & Technology, LLC., a Defense Logistics Agency Distribution contractor, along with Mission Assurance Division, Fire, and the Provost Marshal’s Office organized an active shooter drill at warehouse five aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, California, December 17. The main aim of an active shooter drill/training is to equip individuals with the confidence needed to effectively respond to an active shooter emergency, thereby enhancing their likelihood of survival. By proactively preparing both military and civilian personnel for a potential violent incident, their knowledge of how to respond will strengthen. The continuous practice of these drills allows individuals to respond under significant stress, promoting familiarity with established protocols even in high-pressure circumstances.

MCCS Barstow organized the annual Trees for Troops event at MCLB Barstow Base Housing Community Center aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, California, December 6. Military and civilian personnel, together with their families and friends, participated in the celebrations by making Christmas cookies, crafting decorations, selecting Christmas trees, visiting Santa, and enjoying a special performance by the children from the School Aged Care program. Community supporters, including the High Desert Marines and Bob Hope USO, were in attendance, distributing toys and gifts to children of various age groups.

Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow held the Marine Corps 249th Birthday Ball at the Hilton Garden Inn, Victorville, California, November 15. Colonel Russell Savatt, base commanding officer, together with distinguished guest Master Sergeant Andre Bosier, USMC retired, presided over the birthday celebration, which included the ceremonial cake cutting and the presentation of colors by the Walking Color Guard.

MCCS Barstow held their annual Trunk or Treat event aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, California, October 30. The event featured a glow-in-the-dark Harry Potter-themed haunted tunnel, vehicles adorned with various Halloween motifs, a variety of games and prizes, as well as a costume contest open to participants of all ages, including pets.

Military and civilian personnel, along with their families, joined Marine Corps Community Services for the 2024 Fall Festival, themed as Oktoberfest, at the James L. Day Conference Center aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, California, September 18. The event featured a variety of activities for all age groups, such as mechanical bull riding, a petting zoo, craft stations, a caricaturist, a hot dog eating competition, carnival games, strength challenges, and numerous additional attractions. The 34th Annual Run for the Wall Midway Route's first stop at Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, California, May 14, 2024. Over 200 motorcyclists participate in a parade on historic Route 66, a portion of which goes through MCLB Barstow, after an awards presentation and photo opportunity in front of the eagle, globe and anchor statue. Run for the Wall is an annual motorcycle ride from California to District of Columbia, ending at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (The Wall), located in DC. Colonel Gregory Pace, base commanding officer, Sgt. Maj. Miller Daceus, base sergeant major, Maj. Corral, S-3 Operations officer and Lt. Col. Arturo Manzanedo, base executive officer, were present to greet Eric Fort, Run for the Wall Midway Route coordinator, and other ambassadors of Run for the Wall, and present the awards, before the Run for the Wall group rode off-base. Marine Corps Community Services Barstow hosts the Summer Bash Kick Off event at Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow on May 10, 2024. The event showcased a variety of entertainment options suitable for all age groups. These included water slides, inflatable bounce houses, carnival games with prizes, face painting and air brush art, live music performance, a demonstration on fire safety by Sparky the fire dog, a professional juggler, and much more! The Child Development Center and MCCS Barstow MCCS Barstow Behavioral Health celebrated the annual Month of the Military Child event aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB) - Barstow on April 17, 2024. Children, teachers, and parents wore purple shirts in support of military children and their unique needs as a result of their parents' service. Firefighters, Marines, and Marine Corps Mounted Color Guard came out in support of the event by providing games, giveaways, a tour inside the fire engines, and up-close introductions with the horses. Maj., and Lieutant Colonel Arturo Manzanedo join MCCS Barstow, MCCS Barstow Behavioral Health to place pinwheel with children and teachers at the Child Development Center aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB) - Barstow on April 3, 2024. Pinwheels have been designated as the emblematic representation of child abuse prevention on a national level. The pinwheel signifies not only a sense of playfulness and joy but also encapsulates the essence of childhood. Sergeant Hammer is a member of the Marine Corps Mounted Color Guard, stationed in Barstow, Calif. She recently rode in her very first parade as a member of the MCG during the Paso Robles Pioneer Days Parade, in Paso Robles, Calif. on 12 Oct. 2019.

U.S. Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow is strategically located in the Mojave Desert and connected across the Interstate 15, Interstate 40, Sante Fe railway, and the Union Pacific. Predominantly a logistical and storage location for Marine and other Department of Defense assets, the base also features the largest railway in the Department of Defense, small arms firing ranges, multiple Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT) sites, special operations training, and other operations that are not well known outside of the bases gates.
