Students from Silver Valley High School's Criminal Justice program observed and joined in on demonstrations with the Provost Marshall's Office and Special Reaction Team aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, California, January 23. Students were able to learn about different weapons utilized by PMO and SRT, along with interact with the K9's at their obstacle course and during bite training.

The Provost Marshall's Office Special Reaction Team conducted classroom instruction, dry-fire training, and live-fire scenarios aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, California, January 21. SRT comprises a team of specially trained military and civilian police officers tasked with addressing crisis situations within the installation. Their training encompasses various aspects including weapons safety, weapon handling, dry and live-fire exercises with M18 pistols and M4 rifles, and drills aimed at enhancing the individual responses of SRT members during incidents.

Ben Adams, health & fitness supervisor, conducted a high-intensity tactical training (HITT) class for the Marines at the base gym aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, California, January 6-10. The objective of the class is to enhance the understanding of how to conduct physical training for Marines, enabling them to effectively implement these practices. Furthermore, it equips the Marines with skills related to overall preparedness, mindfulness, and self-assurance.

The main aim of an active shooter drill/training is to equip individuals with the confidence needed to effectively respond to an active shooter emergency, thereby enhancing their likelihood of survival. By proactively preparing both military and civilian personnel for a potential violent incident, their knowledge of how to respond will strengthen. The continuous practice of these drills allows individuals to respond under significant stress, promoting familiarity with established protocols even in high-pressure circumstances.

The Marine Depot Maintenance Command Production Plant Barstow held their cake cutting ceremony, celebrating the Marine Corps 249th birthday, at the Yermo Annex aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, California, November 20. Colonel Kirk Spangenberg, commanding officer of MDMC, led the ceremony by serving the first slice of cake to the oldest Marine in attendance, retired Staff Sergeant Jermel Johnson, artillery quality control inspector, and youngest Marine Lance Corporal Izak Cortez, 1st Force Storage battalion chain/material management specialist.

Wreaths, flags, and flowers were placed to pay tribute to both past and present service members, accompanied by guest speakers from the City of Barstow and Fort Irwin. The Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow Walking Color Guard presented the colors at both ceremonies, with further participation from High Desert Marines, American Cruisers, Ms. Barstow, and various other representatives.

The Army saves millions of dollars each year by transporting equipment by rail, through MCLB Barstow, then convoying to Fort Irwin National Training Center for training rotations. They then reverse the process when returning soldiers and equipment to their home units.

The visit gave the children an opportunity to ask questions, listen to stories, and learn more about the experiences of an active-duty solider in the Navy.

The objective of the visit was to provide the congressman with a brief overview of MDMC's capabilities, including an examination of the enhancements made to the Reset GMV 1.1 vehicles and the future prospects ahead. Congressman Obernolte previously visited MDMC PPB in 2015 while serving as an assemblyman for the 33rd District; this marks his inaugural visit in his capacity as a congressman.

Community members assembled along both sides of the street to observe a procession featuring military and police vehicles, horses from the Marine Corps Mounted Color Guard, fire engines, and Marines on foot patrol, among other displays. The parade participants included the command of Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, vehicles from the 1st Force Storage Battalion and the Marine Depot Maintenance Command Production Plant Barstow, as well as representatives from Fort Irwin, the City of Barstow, the Barstow Police Department, and the California Highway Patrol.
